Consumerism plays a major role in today's society.

The magazine (UN)SATISFACTION focuses on the negative aspects of consumerism: unrealistic goals, pleasures, lifestyles, and more. It presents both the problem and the solution.

Since consumerism is a very broad topic, it was narrowed down to three areas: waste, fashion, and food.

The project was created
in collaboration with Eva Berenger

With its minimalist layout, the magazine breaks with classic magazine designs.

The table of contents should show all sections of the magazine at a glance. Starting with the problem (Show), moving on to the analysis/explanation (Focus), and ending with a solution and resolution of the tension (Find).

Each section begins with an overview of the topics on a colored background. Small bubbles are included for visual orientation. The further you read, the clearer the topic becomes and the simpler the bubble.

Most of the information can be found in the articles. The text runs across two columns and is divided by subheadings. Images are always free-standing in the layout. In addition to the images, quotes supplement the content. To break up the strict grid, the quotes are aligned to the page margin.

The clear structure of the magazine is occasionally broken up by colored pages with questions or quotes. The answers can be found in the following article or interview.

Interviews are also divided into two columns. The answers are indented slightly for clear differentiation.

The magazine begins and ends with photo series. These are impressive visuals that capture the theme of the magazine in images.

While the textual content starts with combinations of text, images, and speech bubbles in a free layout, the photo series begin with text on images, thus creating a contrast to the rest of the layout.

There is no advertising space throughout the entire magazine series, offering readers a break from typical advertising placements.

Issue 1 – Waste

Issue 3 – Transform

Since the magazine deals with a deep and serious topic, it is published every three months.
